This photographic documentary is a continuing journey. Though it involves an artistic element, the goal is to capture the fabric of the land and the richness of the people. Its purpose is to carry into history evidence of being. In reviewing these images it is my hope to inspire citizens, educators, politicians, community and religious leaders to a deeper understanding of how precious and fragile we are as a society. The history of our cultures and traditions is something we must protect and foster for generations to come. These cultural differences make us who we are and who our children will become.
For many years, African countries have been an ideal destination for American and European tourists. The beautiful landscapes and wildlife transform a one-week stay into an exiting once-in-a-linfetime adventure. For the local people, it is a different story; their lives are a constant struggle with extreme poverty, disease, and suffering. Africans are very much aware that the most effective weapon on hope and survival is through economic growth. Even still, many believe that African unity, along with a strong sense of family, community cohesiveness, and education, is the only way to survive.
